The image is the truth, the OCR text is the index. You never retype your handwriting. You add two typed lines so Search has something reliable to match on, then route the page. Two minutes per export, not per page.
Native pages, not a background picture
Every page is real OneNote tables and text you can type into and edit. The common complaint about premium templates is that the layout turns out to be an image you cannot align anything to. Not here.
Honest about the limits
The path is one way and nothing syncs back to your Scribe. OCR fails on cursive. OneNote cannot sort anything for you, and any template implying otherwise is showing you a screenshot. All of that is written down inside.

Does the Kindle Scribe actually send notes to OneNote?
Yes. You send a notebook out from the device and it arrives with each page as an image of your handwriting plus a layer of OCR text. What it does not do is give any of it structure, because the Scribe has none to give. That is the gap this notebook fills.
Do my edits go back to the Scribe?
No. The path is one way. Nothing you change in OneNote reaches the device, and nobody selling you a OneNote template can change that. Keep writing on the Scribe as you do now; this is where the notes live afterwards.
I am on a Mac. Can I still use it?
Yes, with one caveat that is Microsoft’s rather than ours: the OneNote package format only imports on Windows. Borrow a Windows machine once, put the notebook in OneDrive, and it syncs to your Mac, iPad and phone from then on. How good is the handwriting recognition?
Good on neat printing, poor on cursive, and confidently wrong about names and numbers. There is a page inside that lays this out in a table. It is exactly why the system has you type two lines of context per page rather than trusting Search to find your handwriting.
Does it work with the free OneNote?
Yes. No Microsoft 365 subscription needed. A personal Microsoft account is best, since some work and school accounts block notebook import entirely.
Will it work with a reMarkable or a Boox?
The structure works with anything that sends pages into OneNote, and plenty of people use it that way. It is written for the Kindle Scribe specifically because that export behaves in a particular way, so the wording and the worked examples assume it.
