Specs

The reMarkable 2 template size at a glance

Spec Value
Native pixel resolution 1404 x 1872 pixels
Pixel density (PPI) 226 PPI
Visible panel size 10.3 inches diagonal
Panel dimensions ~7.4 x 9.9 inches
Aspect ratio 3:4 (portrait)
Color depth 16 grayscale levels (4-bit)
Refresh rate Variable, ~21 Hz peak for writing

The reMarkable 2 template size sits on a 10.3-inch monochrome e-ink Canvas panel that ships at 1404 x 1872 pixels. The PPI works out to about 226, which puts text rendering close to print quality at typical reading sizes. The panel is 4-bit grayscale (16 levels), enough for fine line-weight differentiation but not enough for photographic content. The panel size is identical to the original reMarkable; the reMarkable Paper Pro and Paper Pro Move use larger panels, but the reMarkable 2 (and its Paper Pure successor) use this resolution.

Margins

Margins, safe zones, and stylus reach for reMarkable 2 template size

Because the reMarkable 2’s 10.3-inch panel sits inside a slim bezel, the visible writing area is the full 1404 x 1872 pixels with no UI overlay during writing. Designers should still set margins for two practical reasons: stylus reach (writing flush to the edge feels cramped) and import behavior (reMarkable Connect occasionally crops a few pixels at the page boundary depending on PDF metadata). A safe zone of 80-100 pixels per side is the standard recommendation, leaving 1204 x 1672 pixels of usable design area for content.

  • Top margin: 80-120 pixels. Leave room for a section header or eyebrow if the template is structured.
  • Bottom margin: 80-100 pixels. Less critical than the top because the device renders the bottom edge cleanly.
  • Left margin: 100 pixels for left-handed setup, 80 for right-handed. The user’s hand rests near this edge during writing.
  • Right margin: 80 pixels for left-handed setup, 100 for right-handed.
A safe zone of 80-100 pixels per side. Stylus reach and import quirks both reward the margin; tight-edge designs both punish you.

Export

Exporting from common design tools at the right reMarkable 2 template size

  • Affinity Publisher: Set document size to 1404 x 1872 pixels. Export as PDF (Press Ready) with embedded fonts and no form fields. The export at 226 DPI matches the device’s PPI exactly.
  • Adobe InDesign: Set document size to 7.4 x 9.9 inches at 226 DPI. Export as PDF/X-1a or High Quality Print, embedded fonts, no spreads.
  • Figma: Frame at 1404 x 1872 pixels. Use the PDF export option (Pro plan). Confirm font embedding and flatten any layers that won’t translate cleanly to PDF.
  • Sketch: Artboard at 1404 x 1872 pixels. Export to PDF with the same caveats around fonts and layers as Figma.
  • Word or Google Docs: Possible but not recommended. Both tools default to letter or A4 page sizes, and getting them to 1404 x 1872 pixels requires custom-page-size configuration that breaks margins. For one-off pages, set custom size to 7.4 x 9.9 inches and export to PDF.

Across devices

How reMarkable 2 template size compares to other reMarkable devices

Device Resolution Panel
reMarkable 2 1404 x 1872 10.3-inch monochrome
reMarkable Paper Pro 2160 x 1620 11.8-inch color CANVAS
reMarkable Paper Pro Move 1696 x 954 7.3-inch color CANVAS
reMarkable Paper Pure (2026) 1404 x 1872 10.3-inch monochrome

Templates designed at the reMarkable 2 template size render cleanly on the Paper Pure (same resolution) and scale to fit on the larger Paper Pro and smaller Paper Pro Move (with some aspect-ratio drift). For multi-device support, design native sizes per device or use a paid bundle that ships pre-sized files for the lineup.
