Some of the links on this site earn us a small commission if you buy through them. We want to tell you exactly when that is, why it doesn’t change what we write, and what you can do about it.

Device reviews, comparison posts, buying guides, and accessory round-ups. Anywhere we point you toward a device or accessory we didn’t make, assume there’s an affiliate link involved. Every such link is marked with a small “paid link” tag and appears next to a disclosure block at the top of the article.

Our own template products. The journal posts about how we design or run the studio. Anything on the about, contact, or refunds pages. If the page is about Templacity, the links go to Templacity and that’s it.

What we get

A small percentage of the purchase — usually 3 to 8 per cent, depending on the retailer. The price you pay is the same as if you typed the URL directly. If a retailer ever asked us to write something favourable in exchange for a higher rate, we’d end the relationship and say so here. That hasn’t happened; we’d rather it stayed that way.

How it affects what we write

It doesn’t, on purpose. Two rules keep it honest:

  • We review a device the same way whether we earn a commission or not. If the review ends in “don’t buy this,” we still link out — because you might want to double-check, and because a dead link is more suspicious than a marked one.
  • We name what doesn’t work, in a dedicated section, on every review. If the page doesn’t list flaws, it isn’t finished.

What you can do about it

If you’d rather not support an affiliate relationship, type the product name into your search engine of choice instead of clicking the link. You lose nothing; we lose a small commission. We’d rather you read an honest review and then decide for yourself than tap a link out of obligation.

Current affiliate relationships

  • Amazon Associates (Kindle Scribe, accessories)
  • reMarkable Partner Programme (reMarkable 2, Paper Pro, Paper Pro Move)
  • Boox official store (Note Air, Tab Ultra, Go)
  • Selected independent stylus and case makers — disclosed per-article

If we add a new affiliate relationship, this list updates before the first article linking to them goes live.
