The hard part is what happens to a task after you have sorted it. This Eisenhower matrix template gives every quadrant a next page: a date for the first two, a register for the third, and a weekly count that shows you which of the four you actually live in. Drawn for a tablet you write on with a pen, every page one tap from the next.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"four-modules-one-tap-apart\">Four modules, one tap apart<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>01 Capture list.<\/strong> Everything asked of you, in the words it was asked in, with <em>who asked<\/em> and <em>by when<\/em>. Not a task list: quadrant three is entirely other people&#8217;s urgency, and you cannot see whose without those two columns.<\/li>\n<li><strong>02 The matrix.<\/strong> Two questions, asked in this order and never together: does it have a deadline, and does it move anything that matters? Four quadrants: do it now, schedule it, hand it on, cross it out. Sorted once, in one sitting. Quadrants one and two carry a <em>when<\/em> slot that takes a day and a part of the day, so a decision to schedule something is a date and not a wish.<\/li>\n<li><strong>03 Waiting on.<\/strong> Where quadrant three goes after it leaves your hands: a name, a since date, a chase-on date, and a tick when it comes back. Delegation with no register is just a word in a box.<\/li>\n<li><strong>04 Weekly re-sort.<\/strong> Once a week you count the four quadrants and put the count beside last week&#8217;s. Anything that has not moved in three sorts gets named, so the list stops carrying passengers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 id=\"how-the-book-works-on-a-tablet\">How the book works on a tablet<\/h2>\n<p>The index, the module tabs and the page strip are hyperlinks, so you move around the way you would in an app and write the way you would on paper. Every guide page is shown filled in first, as a worked example, so you can see the system before you start it.
