Goodreads tracking happens in the background. Send to Kindle accepts PDF, DOCX, and EPUB; the conversion is automatic and the result is searchable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Paper Pro reads PDF and EPUB that you sideload yourself, either by USB, the reMarkable desktop app, or the reMarkable mobile app. It does not run the Kindle app, the Kobo app, Libby, or any third-party reader. If you live in the Amazon library, Paper Pro forces you to either give up the library, pay for it again outside Amazon, or sideload books through workarounds that Amazon hasn&#8217;t authorised. The reMarkable Connect subscription ($3.99 a month or $39.90 a year) adds cloud sync, handwriting search, and integration with Google Drive and Dropbox; it does not solve the Kindle problem because Amazon does not export.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is the largest gap between the two devices. It&#8217;s not close. The Kindle Scribe Colorsoft reads ten thousand books that the Paper Pro physically cannot read. If your reading life is mostly inside Amazon, the comparison effectively ends here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The two devices reach color by different routes, and it is the one spec difference that actually shows. Colorsoft uses <a href=\"https:\/\/shopkaleido.com\/pages\/kaleido-3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kaleido 3 from E Ink Holdings<\/a>, which lays a color filter array over a mono panel: mono stays sharp at 300 ppi, color falls to roughly 150 ppi, and saturation reads muted. Paper Pro uses what reMarkable calls a <a href=\"https:\/\/remarkable.com\/products\/remarkable-paper\/pro\/details\/features\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Canvas Color display, based on E Ink Gallery 3<\/a>, a four-particle ink system with no filter over the panel, so color renders at the full 229 ppi and reads noticeably richer. The trade is refresh speed: Gallery 3 redraws full-color content more slowly, which reMarkable tunes around to hold pen latency near 12 ms. In practice text and line art look crisp on both, color images look better on the Paper Pro, and neither one replaces an LCD.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"pull-quote\">Color e-ink in 2026 isn&#8217;t a screen that does color well.
